Downtown Shelbyville Redevelopment Plan

As a former resident of West Washington Street and a former City Councilman, I feel this is not the best use of taxpayers dollars. That is my opinion.

That was also my opinion way back in the day (17 years ago) when this subject was raised over and over during my tenure as an advocate of residents and business owners in the second ward. No one wanted it then and it appears that is still the prevailing opinion.

When I served in office I kept in mind a few things: Listen to everyone regardless of political party. Regardless if they were a taxpayer. Regardless if they actually voted in the election or not. And I always kept in mind that once I was elected, I should always remain an elected official and to NEVER become a politician!

I challenge the citizens of Shelbyville to use their individual voice to speak their mind. Call your designated elected official and also the at-large members. If you cannot get hold of the person representing your ward, call a different one that will listen to you, or heck, call all of them! Once elected they serve all citizens of Shelbyville. Write letters to the editor. Talk to your neighbors. Get educated on the subject. GO TO THE MEETINGS and public forums. Your taxpayer dollars pay their salaries and fund the projects they vote for. Do not sit back and rest on your laurels. Get informed, speak out, and go vote. If all else fails get involved. Run to become the advocate of your Ward. I did once and only won by nine votes so if you think your vote will not make a difference, rethink that position.

I also challenge Jeff Brown editor of TSN to do an in-depth story and also go to all of the businesses affected by the planned decision. Maybe the people affected will not be worried about the repercussions of speaking out. This is everyone's city. These are our taxpayer dollars. Say something before the final decision is made or be prepared to keep your mouth quiet once said plan is executed and you don't like the results.

Jumping off my soapbox now. I put in my two cents.

Btw, If you do not agree with my opinion, everyone has the ability to learn to respectfully agree to disagree. We are all entitled to our opinion.

Everybody have a great day!

I think all this recent gun violence and deaths can be laid at the feet of the NRA. I know that I will get roasted for saying that. But it is my opinion. Remember "Guns don`t kill people, People kill people with guns."

Re: "Fixing" the Religious Freedom Restoration Act
Memo: You can't put the stink back in the skunk. Our state's reputation is trashed...worldwide.
Addendum: Hats off to our local state rep, Sean Eberhart, for voting against this stupid, mean-spirited law.

The only thing funnier than watching our governor try to tap dance his way around the "Religious Freedom Act" debacle would be if he did it while riding a unicycle wearing a clown suit. But a horrible thought occurred - as he sees his plans to run for president go down in howls of derisive laughter, he may decide to run for re-election as our governor, and knowing this state, he might actually win.
So I've decided to form a Political Action Committee to help Gov. Dense...uh for president.
Please give generously to the Committee Resolved to Encourage and Endorse Pence for president aka CREEP (With a nod to Nixon's Committee to RE-Elect the President)
